Why Is Writing Hard?: Visiting The Genesis of Every Beggard Write-Up
From a certain point, putting a pen on paper doesn’t look difficult; you champion further the cause of your idea by writing on that paper, but again, such can seamlessly transpire with great ease, right?
I mean it looks that way just scribing and scribbling and penning down every idea that journeys through your mind, only for you to look down at your work and find out that it has become the handiwork of an inexperienced kid, like, someone gave a spaz a pen.
He populated the vast area of a blank sheet of paper with arrant nonsense. It is, and only then would it dawn on you that you have failed to communicate your idea; it is at that very suspenseful moment that you would realise that writing transcends mere placing a pen on paper. It is at that very point in life that you would mount on the established notion that writing is hard.
Because you have birthed that realization it shouldn’t prompt you to spawn further suicidal thoughts writing is indeed hard and it’s not that way because you are at the receiving end, famous writer and author F. Scott Fitzgerald said “writing is hard. And if it’s not, you’re doing it wrong”.
In likelihood, Hemingway pointed out that “there is nothing to write. All you do is sit down and bleed” Believe me, whatever promotes bleeding or bloodshed is not easy—nose bleeds, abortion, birth, Amputation, etc.
Most times, I see people publish works easily, and the most painful part, aside from the fact that I am not among the “people” that publish these works, is that their works actually sell, and they do so at a rapid pace.
The feedbacks are always positive, like no one ever says “the character design is a distinct caricature, it is distasteful” or “the events looks so unreal” I then wonder if indeed I am actually a spoon deluding myself that I have writing prowess because I follow all procedure and protocol could it be that due process forgot me?
I read extensively, I gossip, I take long walks and digest local news, I pay vivid attention to unpleasant happenings, I accumulate data in large quantities, but for some reason clearly above human influence, I have failed to bring out the result very fast.
This is most likely the story every ineffective writer or beggared author would cultivate, some go as far as to castigate writer’s block, blaming the abstract idea for the cause of their imaginative constraint It is entirely fair that people act ignorant and point fingers at anything that can be pointed at, because really writing is hard.
Can we take this brief suspension in time to assess why your first book got only a 3-star rating and no feedback? Can we discuss why you have been rejected by blogging sites searching for writers because you didn’t fit the ideal profile?
Your works are always grungy and unsettling, you first begin well, or at least you believe you started well, the title is satisfying “another midnight story we don’t tell” the book cover is jaw-dropping and attractive, the first few lines are a sure hook “Marcus broke the little wedge that made everyone understand the difference between what is fictive and what is not” but along the line you fall out of grace you start uncontrollably messing things up why?
You gnash your teeth and start searching through your arsenal of vocabulary for words that best express pain, grief, happiness you start ravaging through your thought library for the best way to creatively identify a leaking pipe, for more ways to non-repetitively define a collapsing building, for more ways to describe the Candy Man other than the initial way he was described.
But that alone becomes your greatest downfall the crippling perfectionism that keeps whispering to you that good is never good enough, go big or go home becomes your biggest hindrance to success, the pricking issues because the forgotten orientation that nothing can be carved out perfectly. Trying to force such a linear idea into reality would only result in a production no one would read.
You become easily fatigued trying to make everything shape fit and slim fitted into what you would intend to be apt in your entire work, surely when things don’t work out or your idea isn’t flowing how you expect you get provoked and constantly revile hesitation and start over and over again this of course just introduces you to chasing rabbits.
There is no antidote for such; you cannot fight perfectionism, it happens to the best of us, but one thing you can do is to expel the idea of being great and just sit down and put your best foot forward. Good is satisfactory, good is applauded, good is recognised, you can be good and not die prematurely, it is a privilege to be good, not a right, once you have mounted that stage, quit while you’re ahead.
Apart from always wanting to be the best, lack of practice also makes writing hard, just like other principles. Take basketball, for example, the game doesn’t really appear complex; it’s just a collection of 10 men divided into two teams running to and fro while bouncing the ball, right?
But it’s more to that, the technique needed to manipulatively manoeuvre and pass an opponent is sickly demanding, the energy required in launching the ball from outside the bucket area into the net is apprehensively weakening and the excessive amount of rules needed to adhere to while playing just takes the fun out of everything, but there are still people that play such and excel in it, there are still people that play such and make it look like a cakewalk how?
Through unwarranted and extreme practice. Similarly, comes the concept of writing; it looks easy, but if you do not practice, you will never get the hang of it. Animating outside of constant practice and being inconsistent with your writing plan would make writing implausibly difficult.
Conclusion
Writing is very creative, and much of the cognitive activity is involved in getting it done. It is important to note that every writing requires deep engagement and creativity. It is advisable to engage in activities like reading, travelling, learning online and visiting social media websites.
